I stood in front of my wardrobe with my arms crossed, staring at the countless outfits hanging inside as if they would magically help me make a decision. For the last twenty minutes, I had been taking out dresses, rejecting them, putting them back, and repeating the entire process again. The problem wasn't that I didn't have anything to wear. The problem was that tonight was different.
Today wasn't just a random outing.
Today was our celebration.
The Raichandโs siblings had planned a club night after all the marriage drama, and somehow that fact alone was enough to make me nervous. Every time I picked an outfit, another thought immediately appeared in my head.
What if it's too simple?
What if it's too much?
What if he doesn't even notice?
The last thought made me freeze.
Then I immediately shook my head.
"No."
I pointed at my reflection dramatically.
"We are not dressing for Veer Raichand."
A pause.
"Maybe a little."
My reflection judged me.
I ignored it.
With a dramatic sigh, I dropped onto my bed and looked around the room. That's when my eyes landed on a dress hanging quietly at the corner of my wardrobe. Slowly, a mischievous smile appeared on my face as I stood up and walked toward it.
"Oh..."
Now this looked interesting.
I pulled it out and held it against myself.
A bigger smile appeared.
The dress was elegant, bold and beautiful at the same time. It fit perfectly and highlighted my figure beautifully without looking overdone. It was exactly the type of dress that would make people look twice.
And for some reason...
I wanted a certain someone to look twice.
"Let's experiment."
Forty-five minutes later, I stood in front of the mirror completely ready.
My makeup was soft and natural, just enough to enhance my features. My long hair fell over my shoulders in loose waves while a delicate perfume completed the entire look. Looking at myself, I couldn't help but smile proudly.
"Damn, Myra."
I pointed toward the mirror.
"You look expensive."
My reflection seemed to agree.
Just then, a loud horn echoed outside.
My eyes widened.
"Oh God."
"They are here!"
Without wasting another second, I grabbed my handbag, phone and heels before rushing downstairs.
The moment I entered the living room, I found Maa arranging a few things near the dining table. She looked up casually, but the second her eyes landed on me, she froze completely.
For a moment she simply stared.
Then a warm smile spread across her face.
"You look beautiful."
My cheeks immediately turned pink.
I walked toward her and hugged her from the side.
"Thank you, Maa."
She gently fixed a strand of hair behind my ear before shaking her head affectionately.
"My daughter has grown up."
"Dramatic much?" I laughed.
"Not as dramatic as you."
"Impossible."
Maa laughed softly.
I quickly kissed her cheek before picking up my heels.
"Maa, I'm getting late. Please have dinner on time, take your medicines, and don't wait for me. I'll be back soon."
She folded her arms.
"You say that every single time."
"Because every single time it's true."
"It is never true."
I grinned.
"Technical details."
Another horn sounded outside.
I quickly wore my heels and rushed toward the door before Maa could start another lecture.
The cool evening breeze greeted me the moment I stepped outside.
And immediatelyโ
I froze.
Two luxurious black SUVs stood in front of the house, their polished surfaces reflecting the golden streetlights. The expensive vehicles looked straight out of a movie scene, making the entire driveway appear far more glamorous than usual.
Standing beside them were the Raichand siblings.
Aryan stood near one of the SUVs with effortless elegance. Dressed in a perfectly tailored black shirt and charcoal-grey trousers, he looked more like a successful lawyer heading toward an important legal conference than someone going clubbing. His calm expression and composed personality somehow made him look even more intimidating.
Beside him stood Kabir.
The complete opposite.
If Aryan represented sophistication, Kabir represented chaos.
His black jacket hung carelessly over a dark t-shirt while his sleeves were rolled up casually. One hand rested inside his pocket while the other held sunglasses.
At night.
Because apparently logic and Kabir had never met each other.
Ritika stood beside them looking absolutely stunning in a stylish short dress. Her hair was perfectly styled, her makeup flawless, and her confidence completely unmatched.
The moment she saw me, her jaw dropped.
"OH MY GOD!"
I immediately laughed. "What?"
"What do you mean WHAT?" She pointed dramatically toward me. "Look at yourself!"
Kabir finally looked up.
Then whistled.
"Someone came prepared."
I flipped my hair proudly.
"Obviously."
Before I could say anything else, my eyes shifted toward the first SUV.
And suddenly...
Everything else disappeared.
Veer.
He stood beside the car with one shoulder resting casually against it. One hand was tucked inside his pocket while the other held his phone. The black shirt he wore fit him perfectly, making him look effortlessly powerful and intimidating.
The evening breeze moved through his hair slightly. His jawline looked sharper under the soft lights. The expensive watch around his wrist gleamed whenever he moved.
And honestly?
The man looked unfairly attractive.
No.
Attractive wasn't enough.
The man looked dangerous. The kind of dangerous every sensible woman should avoid.
Unfortunatelyโ
I wasn't feeling very sensible.
As if sensing my stare, Veer suddenly looked up.
And our eyes met.
For a brief moment, neither of us looked away.
His gaze moved over me once.
Slowly.
Calmly.
Yet somehow it made me suddenly aware of every single detail of my appearance. Then he looked away as if nothing had happened. Meanwhile, my heart was busy forgetting how to function.
Again.
Wonderful.
Before I could recover, another luxury car entered the driveway and smoothly stopped beside the SUVs.
The driver's door opened.
And Zaayan stepped out.
Dressed in a fitted dark navy shirt with black trousers, he looked effortlessly attractive. His sleeves were rolled up neatly to his forearms while the expensive watch around his wrist added to his already commanding presence. There was something naturally intimidating about him, yet at the same time he carried a charm that made people pay attention whenever he entered a room.
"Finally!" Kabir shouted dramatically.
"You are late."
Zaayan closed the car door.
"I am exactly three minutes late."
"That still counts."
"It doesn't."
Their argument immediately began.
Typical.
My attention automatically shifted toward Ritika.
And immediately...
Something felt suspicious.
Very suspicious.
For a brief moment, Ritika and Zaayan's eyes met.
Neither of them said anything.
Yet the atmosphere suddenly felt different.
Ritika, who had been arguing nonstop with Kabir just seconds ago, became unusually quiet. The confident expression on her face disappeared for a second before a faint blush appeared on her cheeks.
I blinked.
Once.
Twice.
Hold on.
Was she...
Blushing?
Meanwhile, Zaayan simply looked away as if nothing had happened, but I wasn't blind. I clearly saw the corner of his lips twitch slightly before he looked elsewhere.
My suspicion instantly doubled.
Interesting.
Very interesting.
There was definitely a story here. Because normal people didn't look at each other like that. And Ritika definitely didn't blush for normal reasons.
I folded my arms and looked between them suspiciously. Something was cooking.
And as a responsible future family member...
I was absolutely going to investigate.
A smile appeared on my face as I looked around at everyone again. Aryan was already regretting coming, Kabir was still arguing with Zaayan, Ritika was pretending nothing had happened, and Veer stood silently beside the car looking as unreadable as ever.
For the first time that evening, genuine excitement bubbled inside me.
Tonight was going to be interesting.
Very interesting.
And honestly?
I couldn't wait.
After a few more minutes of endless teasing, arguments and unnecessary drama, Veer finally lost whatever patience he had left. Folding his arms across his chest, he looked at the entire group and said calmly, "Are you all done? Because if yes, then can we finally leave?" His voice wasn't loud, yet it immediately grabbed everyone's attention. Kabir looked personally offended while Aryan rolled his eyes, and Zaayan openly laughed at Kabir's expression.
The cool evening breeze drifted through the beautiful garden in front of Myra's house as everyone started heading toward the waiting cars.
The sky was painted in beautiful shades of purple and deep orange while the city lights slowly began glowing in the distance. Excitement was visible on everyone's faces because it had been a long time since all of them had gone out together like this.
Just when everything seemed normal, a mischievous idea suddenly appeared inside Ritika's mind. "I'm going with Aryan Bhai and Kabir Bhai," Ritika announced casually, trying very hard to sound innocent.
The smile that spread across her face was enough for Kabir, Aryan and Zayan to immediately understand that she was planning something. None of them stopped her. In fact, all three silently decided to support whatever chaos she was about to create.
Myra didn't think much about it. Naturally, she started following Ritika toward the SUV. However, before she could take more than two steps, Ritika suddenly grabbed her wrist and stopped her. Myra looked confused while Ritika pointed directly toward Veer.
"Nope. You're going with Veer Bhai."
For a moment, complete silence surrounded them.
Myra blinked.
Then blinked again.
Then looked at Veer.
Then looked back at Ritika.
Her brain genuinely stopped functioning for a few seconds.
Meanwhile, Kabir almost choked trying to suppress his laughter. Aryan immediately looked away to hide his smile while Zaayan seemed far too entertained by the situation.
Veer's expression darkened instantly. "Ritika." The warning in his voice was obvious.
Unfortunately, nobody cared.
Kabir immediately stepped forward and wrapped an arm around Ritika's shoulders. "Sorry Bhai," he said dramatically, trying to hide his grin. "Tonight our beloved sister is coming with us. We have important sibling matters to discuss."
Aryan silently nodded in agreement while Zayan looked ready to enjoy the show.
Veer looked at all four of them.
Traitors.
Absolute traitors.
Within moments, Ritika had already entered the SUV. Kabir followed immediately while Aryan settled into the driver's seat. Before either Veer or Myra could protest, the doors shut and the engine started.
The SUV drove away.
Just like that.
Leaving only Veer and Myra standing in the driveway.
The silence that followed suddenly felt much louder than before.
For a brief moment neither moved. The evening breeze played with Myra's hair while distant city sounds echoed around them. Veer's gaze unintentionally shifted toward her and for the first time since she had stepped outside the house, he properly noticed her.
The black dress suited her far too well.
The fitted fabric highlighted her figure beautifully while still looking elegant. Her soft wavy hair fell freely over her shoulders and the subtle makeup only enhanced her natural beauty. The golden lights from the mansion illuminated her face, making her look almost unreal.
Dangerously beautiful.
For a second, Veer found himself staring. A second longer than he should have.
Immediately, he looked away.
Focus.
That was exactly the problem. Every time he looked at her, he forgot how to focus.
Meanwhile, Myra wasn't doing any better.
Standing only a few feet away from him, she was very aware of his presence. The black shirt he wore was rolled up to his forearms while the first few buttons remained open, revealing a glimpse of his collarbone. Combined with his sharp features and calm expression, he looked devastatingly handsome.
And that was extremely unfair.
"Let's go," Veer finally said calmly, breaking the silence before it became dangerous.
Myra quickly nodded.
If only he knew what was happening inside her head.
Veer opened the passenger door for her before walking around the car and taking his place behind the steering wheel. A few moments later the engine came alive and the luxury car smoothly pulled onto the road.
For the first few minutes neither spoke.
The city looked beautiful beneath the evening sky. Streetlights illuminated the roads while restaurants, cafรฉs and shopping streets buzzed with life. People walked along sidewalks laughing with friends while distant music drifted through the air whenever they crossed busy intersections.
Inside the car, however, silence ruled.
Not awkward.
Not uncomfortable.
Just...
Dangerously aware.
Myra tried focusing on the city outside the window. She genuinely tried. The problem was that every few minutes her attention drifted toward Veer again.
The sharp line of his jaw looked even more defined beneath the passing streetlights. His eyes remained fixed on the road while one hand rested confidently on the steering wheel. The veins visible on his forearm, the expensive watch around his wrist and the calm confidence with which he drove made him look effortlessly attractive.
Every accidental glance sent fresh butterflies through her stomach.
God.
How was a person allowed to look this good?
At one point she found herself staring for a little too long. Realizing it, she immediately turned toward the window again and pretended to be fascinated by a random building they were passing.
Meanwhile, Veer wasn't doing much better.
He kept his eyes firmly fixed on the road, but he was painfully aware of her presence. The soft scent of her perfume lingered inside the car. Every time she adjusted her hair, every time she shifted in her seat, every time she unknowingly looked at him, his attention threatened to drift.
And Veer hated that. Because acknowledging her felt dangerous. And Veer Raichand did not make dangerous mistakes twice.
Thankfully for both of them, the club appeared ahead.
Bright neon lights illuminated the massive building while luxury cars continuously arrived outside. Loud music could already be heard from the entrance and the atmosphere practically screamed celebration.
By the time they stepped out of the car, the others were already waiting. Kabir's smirk immediately told everyone that he was very proud of his matchmaking skills. Veer ignored him completely.
After receiving their VIP access bands and completing the formalities, the group finally entered the club.
The moment the doors opened, music exploded around them.
Heavy bass vibrated through the floor while colorful lights flashed across the massive dance floor. Hundreds of people danced beneath neon lights while others enjoyed drinks, conversations and laughter. Some couples occupied private corners while groups of friends celebrated loudly around the club.
The entire place radiated energy.
The Raichands headed toward their private lounge located on the upper floor overlooking the dance floor below. As they walked through the club, countless eyes followed them.
Especially the girls.
And honestly, it wasn't difficult to understand why.
Aryan looked effortlessly sophisticated. Kabir looked charming and dangerous. Zaayan carried his usual intimidating confidence. And Veer looked like the type of man women wrote entire novels about.
The attention didn't go unnoticed.
Neither did the whispers.
Some girls openly stared while others shamelessly checked them out. Meanwhile, Myra and Ritika weren't receiving any less attention from the opposite side.
Eventually, everyone settled into their private section. Food arrived. Mocktails arrived. Snacks arrived. Conversations flowed naturally while laughter filled the lounge.
For a while, everyone simply enjoyed themselves.
Eventually, Kabir got bored. Which was never a good sign.
For nearly twenty minutes everyone had been sitting in their private lounge, enjoying snacks, drinks and random conversations. Music from the dance floor echoed throughout the club while colorful lights continuously flashed around them. Kabir, however, looked deeply offended by the fact that they were sitting inside a club and behaving like civilized people.
Leaning back dramatically against the couch, he looked around the group before shaking his head in disappointment.
"We came to a club," Kabir complained dramatically while gesturing toward the dance floor below. "And yet everyone is sitting here like we're attending some business conference."
Ritika immediately burst out laughing while Myra nodded enthusiastically in support. Aryan merely rolled his eyes before taking another sip from his drink.
"Because some of us have standards," Aryan replied dryly.
"Because some of us are boring," Kabir corrected with a dramatic sigh, making both girls laugh even harder.
Within minutes, Kabir had successfully convinced Ritika and Myra to join him on the dance floor. The moment they disappeared downstairs, the atmosphere around the private lounge felt strangely different.
From the upper floor, Veer's gaze instinctively followed Myra. He wasn't paying attention to the conversation anymore. He wasn't listening to Kabir's ridiculous commentary. His attention remained fixed on only one person.
Below him, Myra looked completely different from the confident business owner he usually saw. Under the flashing lights of the dance floor, she looked carefree. She laughed openly, spun around with Ritika and danced without worrying about who was watching her.
For the first time in a long time, she looked completely free. Something about that sight made it difficult to look away.
Beside him, Zaayan wasn't doing much better. Although his attention wasn't focused on Myra.
Every few moments his eyes drifted toward Ritika. Whenever she laughed, he looked. Whenever she smiled, he looked. Whenever their eyes accidentally met across the crowd, both immediately looked away as if nothing had happened.
Unfortunately for them, Aryan had already noticed. He simply sat back, quietly observing everything while pretending not to.
Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the club, another group had also noticed Myra. At first it was harmless staring. Then came the whispers. Then came the comments.
One of the boys openly leaned forward, his gaze fixed on Myra while a smirk spread across his face.
"Damn," he muttered shamelessly. "Bhai, kya ladki hai."
Another immediately followed his gaze. "Kya maal lag rahi hai."
The third boy chuckled before taking a sip from his drink. "Perfect spot for tonight." Their attention never left her.
From the upper floor, Veer noticed instantly. The relaxed expression disappeared from his face. His jaw tightened slightly while his eyes narrowed.
Because he knew exactly what kind of men they were.
And he hated it.
Down below, completely unaware, Myra continued enjoying herself with Ritika and Kabir. The crowd around them gradually became denser as more people joined the dance floor. Music grew louder, lights flashed brighter and people continuously brushed past one another.
The first time someone bumped into her shoulder, Myra ignored it completely.
The dance floor was crowded.
Accidents happened.
The second time someone brushed against her, she frowned slightly but still didn't react. Maybe it was another accident.
However, when it happened again, something inside her immediately became uncomfortable. This time it didn't feel accidental.
Subtly moving closer toward Ritika, Myra tried ignoring the uneasy feeling settling inside her stomach. Her smile faded slightly as she glanced around the crowd.
Then she noticed him.
The same boy.
Watching her.
Following her.
A cold feeling immediately settled inside her chest.
The boy smirked shamelessly as he pushed through the crowd once again. The loud music continued blasting around them while colorful lights flashed across the dance floor. Myra had barely taken a step back when suddenly his wrist was caught in an iron grip.
Pain shot through his arm instantly. The smirk disappeared. Annoyed, he turned around, ready to curse whoever had dared stop him.
Then he froze.
Veer stood there. His expression was calm. Too calm. The kind of calm that made people nervous.
For a few seconds, neither spoke. Around them, people continued dancing completely unaware of what was happening. The music remained loud, the atmosphere remained lively, yet somehow the air around them had become suffocating.
The boy tried pulling his hand back.
Failed.
Veer's grip tightened.
Not enough to break.
Enough to hurt.
"Leave my hand," the boy spat arrogantly at Veer while trying to hide his nervousness. "Who the hell are you to stop me?"
Veer didn't answer immediately. His dark eyes briefly shifted toward Myra standing a few feet away before returning to the boy. Then a cold smile appeared on his face.
"A mistake," Veer said quietly to the boy, his voice dangerously calm. "That's what you're making."
The boy scoffed.
"Why?" he asked mockingly. "Tonight she's mine anyway."
The moment those words left his mouth, the temperature around them seemed to drop. Myra felt it. Even the boy felt it. Veer's expression didn't change.
Which somehow made it worse. Slowly, Veer stepped closer until only a few inches separated them.
Then he spoke.
"You touched the wrong girl," Veer said quietly to the boy.
No shouting.
No threats.
Just a simple sentence. Yet somehow it sounded far more terrifying.
The boy swallowed.
For the first time, genuine fear appeared in his eyes.
Before he could say another word, two large security guards appeared beside Veer. Neither of them asked questions. Neither of them needed explanations.
Veer simply gave them a look.
That was enough.
The guards immediately grabbed the boy by both arms.
"Hey! Leave me!" the boy shouted angrily while struggling against their grip. "Do you know who I am?"
Nobody cared.
His friends immediately backed away.
Cowards.
Within seconds, the guards dragged him away from the dance floor while his protests disappeared into the noise of the club.
The music continued. People continued dancing. The lights continued flashing. As if nothing had happened.ย
Veer didn't spare the boy another glance. Instead, his eyes shifted toward Myra for a brief moment, silently checking if she was alright.
Myra found herself staring at Veer.
Before she could thank him, before she could say anything at all, Veer had already turned around and started walking away as if nothing had happened.
The strange warmth that settled inside her chest remained long after he left.
Without saying a word, he walked toward the long bar counter located near the dance floor and occupied one of the stools. Pulling out his phone from his pocket, he quickly typed a short message and sent it to someone before slipping the device back into his pocket, his expression remaining as unreadable as ever.
The rest of the group naturally followed him. Aryan settled beside Veer while Zaayan took the stool on his other side. Kabir, sensing that Myra was still a little shaken by the incident, immediately switched into his usual cheerful mode and started talking about something completely ridiculous. Within minutes, he had everyone laughing again.
The loud music continued vibrating through the club while colorful lights flashed across the crowd. Around them, people continued dancing as if nothing had happened.
Waiters moved between tables carrying drinks while the bartender skillfully prepared cocktails behind the counter.
Soon, food platters and drinks started arriving one after another. Kabir kept narrating random stories, Aryan occasionally threw sarcastic comments at him, and Zaayan silently enjoyed the chaos around him. Gradually, the tension from the earlier incident faded away.
Meanwhile, Myra and Ritika seemed determined to enjoy the night to its fullest. One shot turned into two. Two turned into three. And before anybody could stop them, both girls were already giggling at things that weren't even funny.
From his seat, Veer quietly observed everyone around him. The corners of his eyes occasionally drifted toward Myra, who looked happier with every passing minute.ย
Within minutes, both girls were laughing at absolutely everything.
"Myra," Ritika giggled while pointing toward the floor. "I think that light just winked at me."
Myra immediately gasped. "I SAW IT TOO!"
The two girls burst into laughter while Kabir looked horrified. "Oh no," he muttered dramatically.
Aryan already knew where this was going.
"We've lost them."
Completely.
By now, Myra's cheeks were flushed, her eyes sparkled with drunken happiness and every thought inside her head immediately came out of her mouth without permission.
"The floor is moving," she announced very seriously.
Aryan blinked.
"The floor isn't moving."
"It is," Myra argued stubbornly while pointing dramatically at the ground.
"It isn't."
"Then why is it dancing?" she demanded with complete confidence.
For two seconds, complete silence followed. Then Kabir nearly fell off his stool laughing. Even Zaayan had to look away.
Meanwhile, Veer simply rubbed his forehead. This woman was impossible. Unfortunately for him, things were about to get worse.
Much worse.
Because Myra's wandering gaze suddenly landed on him.
Immediately her entire face lit up. As if she had just discovered the greatest thing in existence.
Pointing dramatically toward him, she gasped loudly.
"There he is!"
Everyone followed her finger.
Uh oh.
Danger.
"My Mr. Grumpy!" Myra declared proudly while pointing at Veer, her words slightly slurred yet filled with excitement.
Kabir immediately lowered his head to hide his laughter. Aryan nearly choked on his drink while even Zaayan looked highly entertained.
Veer slowly turned toward her. His expression remained calm. Too calm.
"Mr. Grumpy?" he repeated slowly, raising an eyebrow. Myra nodded enthusiastically. "Yes. Mr. Grumpy."
"And why exactly am I Mr. Grumpy?"
"Because you never smile," she accused dramatically while narrowing her eyes at him. "You're always serious. Always grumpy. Always looking like you're planning somebody's funeral."
Ritika immediately burst into another round of laughter. Meanwhile, Veer looked completely done with life. Then suddenly, Myra slid off her stool and walked directly toward him.
Stopping between his legs while he remained seated, she placed both hands on his shoulders and looked up at him with bright drunken eyes.
"Come dance with me." The request sounded innocent. The effect it had was not.
Veer's eyes darkened instantly. "No."
Unfortunately, Myra wasn't listening anymore. "Please?" she asked dramatically while tilting her head.
"No."
"Pretty please?"
"No."
"Very pretty please?"
The entire group looked ready to die from laughter. Finally, completely fed up, Myra grabbed his wrist.
And pulled.
To everyone's surprise Veer actually stood up. The entire group stared. Because Veer Raichand had just allowed somebody to drag him onto a dance floor.
The moment Myra dragged Veer onto the dance floor, colorful lights flashed around them while the bass of the music vibrated through the floor beneath their feet.
People danced all around them, completely lost in their own worlds, but somehow none of that mattered. For Veer, the entire club blurred into the background the second his eyes settled on her.
Meanwhile, Myra looked completely carefree.
Her cheeks were flushed from the alcohol, her eyes sparkled with happiness and her laughter blended perfectly with the music surrounding them. She spun once in front of him, then twice, her wavy hair moving freely around her shoulders.ย
Every movement looked effortless, every smile genuine. She looked alive in a way Veer had never seen before.
For several moments, he simply stood there watching.
Watching her laugh.
Watching her dance.
Watching her be herself.
And for the first time in a very long time, Veer forgot to look away.
"Oh my God," Myra suddenly gasped dramatically, stopping in front of him while placing both hands on her cheeks. "You are literally standing like a bodyguard, Mr. Grumpy."
A small laugh escaped her lips as she pointed accusingly at him. "Look around! Everybody is dancing. Even that uncle is dancing better than you."
Veer's eyebrow twitched.
"Myra."
"No," she interrupted immediately, shaking her head stubbornly. "Tonight there will be no serious face, no angry face and definitely no business face."
Before he could reply, she grabbed both his hands and tried pulling him closer.
"Tonight you're dancing." The determination in her voice made her look adorable.
And dangerous.
Because she had absolutely no idea what she was doing to him.
The distance between them gradually disappeared as she stepped closer. Her familiar vanilla-amber fragrance wrapped around him, cutting through the chaos of the club and making the rest of the world fade into the background. Veer's jaw tightened as he tried reminding himself that she was drunk.
Very drunk. Which meant she had no idea how close she was standing. Unfortunately, his heart didn't seem interested in listening to logic.
"Myra..." he warned softly. "Hmm?" she hummed innocently, tilting her head.
The simple movement nearly destroyed whatever control he had left. Then suddenly she smiled.
Not her usual mischievous smile.
Not her teasing smile.
A soft one.
The kind that reached her eyes. The kind that made his chest feel strangely heavy.
"You know..." she said quietly, her voice almost disappearing beneath the music. "You're actually very handsome when you're not glaring at people."
For the first time all night, Veer genuinely froze. Myra, however, looked completely proud of herself.
"As your future wife," she continued seriously, pointing at herself, "I think it's my responsibility to tell you these things."
The words made his eyes widen slightly.
Then she giggled.
Actually giggled.
And suddenly Veer found himself fighting back a smile.
A real smile.
The kind nobody had seen in years. The kind he didn't even realize appeared until Myra's eyes widened dramatically.
"There!" She pointed at him excitedly. "There it is!"
"What?"
"That!" She poked his cheek.
"The smile!"
For a brief second, Veer forgot where they were.
Forgot the music.
Forgot the crowd.
Forgot everything.
All he could see was her. The happiness in her eyes. The excitement on her face. The way she looked at him as if he was something precious.
Something worth protecting.
Something worth loving.
Dangerous.
Everything about this was dangerous. Yet neither moved away.
Slowly, Veer's hands settled on her waist. This time he didn't stop himself. The moment his fingers touched her, Myra's breath hitched slightly. Her laughter softened while her eyes remained locked with his.
Neither spoke.
Neither looked away.
The tension between them grew stronger with every passing second.
The music around them changed into something slower. The crowd continued moving, people continued dancing, but somehow they remained trapped inside their own little world.
Without realizing it, Myra stepped closer. Then closer. Until barely an inch remained between them. Veer's grip around her waist tightened instinctively.
His eyes darkened.
Myra's heartbeat accelerated.
For the first time that evening, even through the alcohol, she became aware of how close they actually were.
Very close.
Dangerously close.
Yet neither seemed willing to create distance. Slowly, Veer began moving with her. Not really dancing. Just enough to match her movements. Just enough to keep her close.
One of Myra's hands moved from his shoulder into his hair while the other remained around his neck. The simple touch sent something dangerous through him.
A few feet away, near the bar counter, Kabir nearly dropped his drink while watching the scene unfold in front of him. Aryan looked genuinely shocked, something that rarely happened, while even Zaayan seemed impressed. None of them interrupted.
Because none of them had ever seen Veer like this before.
Not relaxed.
Not soft.
Not standing in the middle of a crowded club with his entire attention fixed on one person.
Usually, Veer noticed everything around him. Every movement. Every face. Every possible threat. But right now, it was as if the rest of the club had disappeared from his vision. The loud music, the flashing lights, the crowd dancing around themโnone of it seemed to matter.
For the first time in years, Veer wasn't looking at the world around him. His entire attention belonged to one person.
Myra.
The girl standing in his arms. The girl laughing one second and looking at him like he hung the stars the next. The girl who somehow managed to break through walls he had spent years building around himself.
And the most dangerous part?. Veer wasn't trying to stop it.
